ANOTHER PIECE ON FOLKLORE?

Yes! And I will always find them few, we have to talk about the need to return to the people the dance, the legends and the songs beyond the registry and the museum. A living manifesto of the need for ritual as a way to save a society that is in trouble. A call to the collective conscience that, without really knowing why, is moved by certain sounds, melodies, dances and rituals. An invocation to the first emotion of what today we call folklore.

In this piece you will not find a catalogue of popular folklore. You will discover a side free of all that through my body and my contemporary consciousness. Nowadays the essence of the Iberian tradition has been manipulated in favour or to the detriment of certain territorial and ideological issues and I refuse to let politics condition my experience and connection with the original and living spirit of a folklore that crosses me beyond borders or chronology. Tradition should be something that is passed on from generation to generation in a natural and fluid way. A joyful oracle of encounter and communion...

ALBERTO VELASCO

Alberto (1983) studied Dramatic Art in Valladolid and continues his training with acting masters such as Andrés Lima, Eugenio Barba and Rosario Ruiz Rodgers among others.
An indispensable actor and creator on the Spanish stage, his training and multidisciplinary vision of the stage under an eclectic concept has achieved a unique and recognisable style in continuous evolution..

Alberto has worked with Carlota Ferrer, Alberto Conejero, Chevi Muraday, Jerome Bél, Marta Carrasco, David Serrano and Hiroko Tanahashi among others. His work has been awarded on several occasions, winning the Max Award for Best New Show for DANZAD MALDITOS (2015) or the GODOFF Award for Best Show for his latest creation SWEET DREAMS (2022), as well as the UNION DE ACTORES Award (2022) for Best Actor in a Leading Role in Theatre.

He collaborates in the stage direction of Manuel Liñan's plays VIVA! (2019) (Max Audience Award 2020) LA OTRA ESCENA or PIE DE HIERRO (2021) and Carlos Rodríguez in ETERNO / BALLET FLAMENCO HOMAGE TO PICASSO (2022).

In television we have seen him in series such as "AMAR ES PARA SIEMPRE" / A3 "VIS A VIS" A3/Netflix/Fox where he plays Palacios (Best TV Actor Award at the Festival de TV y Cine Reino de León 2017 and Nominated Best TV Actor Premios Unión de Actores 2019) "SEÑORAS DEL (H)AMPA" T5/PrimeVideo, "MADRES" T5/PrimeVideo or "BY ANA MILAN" of Atresmedia Studios.

In cinema she has participated in "ON THE GO" by Maria Royo and Julia de Castro, "LA MANO INVISIBLE" by David Macian, "DE CHICA EN CHICA" by Sonia Sebastian, "UNA NUEVA VIDA" by Marina Seresesky, "LA FAMILIA PERFECTA" by Arantxa Echevarría and "LAS NIÑAS DE CRISTAL" by Jota Linares.

In 2021 he works as a content developer in "THE GOOD MOOD PRODUCTIONS" directed by Daniel Écija.

In 2023 he was awarded the NETFLIX / DAMA AUTOR grant to develop his fiction project "VILLA FUTURO".
He also writes and directs the short films "VOLCÁNICA" (2017) and "EL REY DE LAS FLORES"(2021) (Winner of Best Short Film CYL at SEMINCI, Best New Author at FICIE and Best Short Film at Festival Vila de Noia).
