PAUL B. PRECIADO
I AM THE MONSTER THAT SPEAKS TO YOU
DRAMATISED READING
Psychoanalysis faced with a key decision: stick with outdated models or open up to new approaches to radical political-sexuality?

Dramatised reading that the philosopher, art curator and writer, Paul B. Preciado delivered to three thousand five hundred psychoanalysts gathered for the École de la Cause Freudienne conference in Paris in December 2019.
Returning to Franz Kafka's text in which an ape who has learnt human language addresses an academy of scientists Paul B. Preciado addresses the assembly of psychoanalysts as a trans man and a person of non-binary gender not only to denounce the structural violence that psychiatry, psychology and psychoanalysis carry out on people considered as homosexual, trans, intersex, or of non-binary gender, but also to invite psychoanalysis to open up to the gender and sexual mutations that are taking place.
The result is a monologue that is at once intimate and political, addressing not only psychoanalysts but each of us and our capacity to embrace change and imagine a new utopia.
