Su obra es una permanente b\u00fasqueda por lograr retrato total de la persona con la que est\u00e1 trabajando en cada momento.Por ello, tanto el personaje como la persona que da vida al personaje tienen la misma importancia para Lauwers, quien escribe sobre la piel del individuo intentando, al mismo tiempo, superar los dogmas contempor\u00e1neos de diversidad e identidad. Una recapitulaci\u00f3n del pasado.<\/p>\n<p>UN SUBLIME ERROR \u2014 es un nuevo personaje basado en todos los personajes masculinos algo desperdigados en la obra de Jan Lauwers, y es interpretado por Gonzalo Cunill.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalo es un hombre que est\u00e1 solo en el mundo. Solo, pero no en soledad. Es todo lo opuesto a m\u00ed: exboxeador, nada dos kil\u00f3metros por d\u00eda, es lento, callado, aterradoramente tranquilo. Un guapo y viril anti macho. Se niega a ceder ante la inquietud que se esconde en cada persona. Y dicha\u00a0 intranquilidad es lo que justamente da impulso a mi vida. En los \u00faltimos treinta a\u00f1os se hizo conocido sobre todo por <\/strong><strong>su innovadora obra teatral con la compa\u00f1\u00eda Needcompany, fundada en <\/strong><strong>Bruselas en 1986. Paralelamente ha desarrollado una importante obra <\/strong><strong>visual que ha sido expuesta en BOZAR (Bruselas), McaM (Shanghai), <\/strong><strong>entre otros. De 2009 a 2014 Needcompany fue artist in residence en <\/strong><strong>el Burgtheater de Viena. Lauwers obtuvo la Condecoraci\u00f3n de Honor <\/strong><strong>en oro por sus Servicios a la Rep\u00fablica de Austria, en 2012. En 2014, <\/strong><strong>recibi\u00f3 el Le\u00f3n de Oro de la Bienal de Venecia por toda su trayectoria, <\/strong><strong>y es el primer belga en obtener dicho reconocimiento en la categor\u00eda <\/strong><strong>teatro. En 2018 present\u00f3 en el Festival de Salzburgo \u201cLa coronaci\u00f3n de <\/strong><strong>Popea\u201d, su primer trabajo de direcci\u00f3n de \u00f3pera, seguido por \u201cIntolleranza 1960\u201d (Festival de Salzburgo, 2021) de Luigi Nono y \u201cLe Grand <\/strong><strong>Macabre\u201d de Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti (\u00d3pera de Viena, 2023). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSoy cada vez m\u00e1s consciente de que todos los textos teatrales que he escrito son un ambiguo autorretrato. Ambiguo, porque siempre he estado buscando los grandes relatos de nuestro tiempo. Una de las funciones m\u00e1s importantes del arte es no olvidar el pasado. Entonces, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 hablar de m\u00ed mismo? Me parece arrogante y pretencioso que el arte se ocupe de su hacedor y, aun as\u00ed, no puedo evitarlo. Mi inter\u00e9s por la historia y los grandes relatos va de la mano de la autoexploraci\u00f3n y el amor por el ser humano. Con toda su obstinaci\u00f3n y maldad a veces intr\u00ednseca, el ser humano es lo \u00fanico por lo que vale la pena la vida. Siempre necesit\u00e9 compa\u00f1\u00eda. I need company. La amistad siempre ha sido algo fundamental. Y la amistad te hace temerario. La amistad significa amor, pero tambi\u00e9n traici\u00f3n. Y ah\u00ed vuelvo al autorretrato. \u00bfQui\u00e9n soy, para pensar que mi amistad puede significar algo para otro? En este medio siglo que llevo dedic\u00e1ndome intensamente al arte, \u00bfa qui\u00e9n he traicionado como amigo?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Este texto versa sobre la amistad. Los tres retratos que conforman el relato son partes de m\u00ed mismo, basados en obras anteriores y en las amistades que he abrigado a lo largo de mi trabajo. Tambi\u00e9n queda claro que Gonzalo, como musa, estuvo presente en alg\u00fan rinc\u00f3n de mi atelier, sonriendo por lo bajo mientras yo escrib\u00eda el texto.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>La sublime falta trata de la desesperaci\u00f3n de un artista que no log\u00f3 ser \u201cfr\u00edo como el hielo\u201d en su creaci\u00f3n, sino que siempre quiso volver a ser amado. En UN SUBLIME ERROR uno de los personajes dice que es mucho m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil estar siempre enfadado que esconderse detr\u00e1s de una sonrisa. Su carrera en Espa\u00f1a se remonta a 1992, cuando estrena la obra \u201cEl hundimiento del Titanic\u201d dirigida por Carlos Marquerie, con qui\u00e9n contin\u00faa trabajando. Ha trabajado con Rodrigo Garc\u00eda, Alex Rigola y Carlota Subiros en numerosas producciones dentro y fuera de Espa\u00f1a. A finales de los noventa se traslada a B\u00e9lgica y empieza a trabajar con Lauwers.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Participa en montajes como \u201cCal\u00edgula\u201d y \u201cMorning Song\u201d, por los que obtiene el premio a mejor actor de la cr\u00edtica teatral de Barcelona, en \u201cBegin the Beguine\u201d y \u201cBilly\u2019s Violence\u201d. Particip\u00f3 del largometraje \u201cGoldfish Game\u201d de Jan Lauwers. Su obra m\u00e1s reciente es \u201c\u2018Billy\u2019s Joy\u201d (2023).
